Often, people consider a honeymoon as an excuse to blow money on an extravagant getaway that may not hold much significance in the grand scheme of things. Perhaps these critics never got to go on the honeymoon of their dreams - so, how would they know?

It's easy to judge from the outside, but what about the spouses who have recently pledged their love and lives together? Many times, the wedding is for the family and friends - but, the honeymoon, well that is reserved especially for the couple. What could be more special?

It's a time for a couple to really bond, get to know each other, and create last memories at a fantastic location. Instead of dealing with external influences, they can simply focus on each other. After a grand wedding, couples might need a good vacation to rejuvenate and unwind. Not to mention, the honeymoon can set the tone for your new life. And, what better place to celebrate your honeymoon than in the heavenly country of Greece?

1. TAKE A PERSONAL COURSE IN ANCIENT HISTORY

In ancient times, Greece was once the center of the known earthly universe. It was a powerhouse in terms of politics, culture, art, athletics, religions, and more. In Greece, you will find many jaw-dropping UNESCO heritage sites and mind-blowing monuments that defy our perception of ancient peoples.

You'll get to see the stunning Acropolis in Athens or perhaps the Byzantine monuments of Thessaloniki are more your speed. When at the Parthenon, you'll marvel at how the ancient Greeks were able to build such a massive and glorious structure without the modern technologies we have today. Then, let your imagination run wild in the fantastic medieval Old Town of Rhodes. Here are other UNESCO sites to put on your list:

●  Archaeological Site of Aigai (Vergina)

●  Archeological site of Delphi

●  The Archeological site of Mystras

●  Archeological site of Olympia

●  Archeological site of Mycenae and Tiryns

●  Delos

●  Historic Centre (Chora) with the Monastery of Saint John on Patmos

●  Monasteries of Daphni, Hosios Loukas and Nea Moni of Chios

●  Old Town of Corfu

●  Paleochristian and Byzantine monuments of Thessaloniki

2. ENJOY LUXYRY ON A BUDGET

According to The Culture Trip, Hydra, Sifnos, and Kimolos are rated as some of the most budget-friendly Greek islands to visit. As a result, you get much more for your money. To illustrate, much of the costs of the honeymoon - from hotels, to food, have gone down in this part of the world. This means you might even have the means to upgrade your hotel or your room, or perhaps add a few more days to your trip.

And, let's be honest, everything about Greece feels luxurious. You might even favor an all-inclusive resort where you can get everything you want - from food to drinks, on property. What a wonderful way to share your honeymoon together.

3. BECOME A CASTAWAY WITH A DISNEY CRUISE

Who said Disney Cruises were just for kids? Bring out your inner child, and take a Greek honeymoon aboard a Disney Cruise Line. Starting in 2020, Disney Cruise Lines will offer a 9-or-12-night cruise throughout the Greek islands. So, you get to diversify your honeymoon itinerary with a variety of ports. In addition, you can customize your excursions with Adventures by Disney.

Don't worry about jumping over hyper kids, Disney Cruise Lines always have adults-only pools, restaurants, and pool decks. There are also often many adult activities on board from karaoke to classes in animation, mixology, and they even have bars and lounges.

4. TASTE MOUTH-WATERING FOOD

They say the Mediterranean diet is one of the healthiest lifestyle choices you can make. It's rich in healthy fats, with a wide variety of vegetables, fruits, and Greek yogurt to enjoy. If that's the case, then you should run to the nearest Greek eatery. And, Greek food isn't just gyros, feta, and baklava. Greek ingredients often include Greek olive oil, pasta, lemon juice, Greek yogurt, herbs, honey, cheese, and phyllo pastries.

There are so many delicious options. Here are just a few dishes to enjoy together:

●  Souvlaki

●  Saganaki

●  Dolmades

●  Moussaka

●  Pastitsio

●  Spanakopita

●  Kalamari

●  Kleftiko

●  Stifado

●  Traditional Greek pita bread

And, don't forget some rich Greek coffee with your dessert.

5. THE WETHER

The weather in Greece is a mild, Mediterranean climate. For most of the year, all the islands enjoy a lot of sun. Like any other place, the northern part does get colder during the winter - some areas even receive snow. On the other hand, winter is a lot milder in the south. While the summer is the busiest time of year for the Greek islands, it also has the most frequent tour schedules so you can plan plenty of day trips and outdoor excursions.

If you plan to swim at one of Greece's many beautiful beaches, the water is warm enough from mid-May through September. Yet, there are also northern ski resorts during the winter months. As you can see, a honeymoon in Greece is truly diverse.

As you can see, Greece is the ultimate honeymoon destination. You can enjoy each other's company while exploring ancient history and tasting heavenly foods good enough for the gods.
