Today on the blog i’m proudly presenting you the ultimate greek island wedding inspiration session shared with us by photographer Anna Roussos. Another spectacular Cycladic island, Ios is known for the breathtaking views, the countless golden sand beaches, the astonishing architecture and the heart stoping sunsets. Ios Club was decorated by the super talented wedding planners My Best Wishes events in a traditional, boho style giving us a stylish dosage of island chic wedding inspiration. The gorgeous, indigenous fuchsia bougainvillea flowers steal the show and make a statement contrasting the blue and ivory colors. The handmade boho chic wedding dress come from the greek designer Mairi Mparola and the hand made wedding shoes are from Cardou collection. Head planner of My Best wishes events said to us: "Naturally, love has always been a central piece in the Greek folk literature and arts, and the proliferation of elopement weddings in myths is astounding. From the love story of Psyche (Soul) and Cupid to post modern fairy tales, muses and brides bask in the Aegean sun in anytime, anywhere sultry silk gowns paired with unexpected hits of decadent shine. No better destination than Ios with its easy bohemian flair to showcase this concept inspire our shoot.
We sought after a place that evokes memories and senses with sizable dramatic views but still keeping things fresh and minimal. Ios Club was the perfect pasty venue to set up our shoot, spontaneous, innocent and modern.
We drew ample inspiration from Greek folk art and borrowed elements to fuse with our setup: traditional mortars and pestles (employed for the decor in lieu of votive candle holders and wedding cake base), the famed golden coins named "flouria" (a luxe staple of folk bridal wear), as well as the iconic fuchsia and red bougainvillea blooms thriving across the island.
Flirting with Cycladian whites, our concept stylist and planner MBW Events dressed the bride in a long sleeved, custom-made lace, double piece gown by Mairi Mparola. Flouria were incorporated in the bridal dress, the bride's jewelry (a leather headpiece and a gold statement ring), the groom's cuff links (bound with blue stones), the table decor and the favors (pochettes and rosaries) but also in the embellishment of the all-white tiered wedding cake. Homespun crochet runners and macramé hangings were applied to the lighting, and table scape, artfully styled with blue and white flatware."
