Mykonos is an island in the Cyclades archipelago in the center of the Aegean Sea, southeast of Athens, connected by both sea and air. Mykonos is well known as the par excellence destination for night life. A place where no one goes to bed before sunrise, only to wake up in the afternoon to go for a relaxed swim on the island’s many splendid beaches, and then prepare for another long night out. You will find some outstanding hotels and delightful cuisine on the island. According to Greek mythology, Mykonos was named after its first ruler, Mykons, the grandson of god Apollo. The island was initially colonized by the Ionians as far back as the 11th century BC. The nearby small island of Delos became the most sacred area in the Ancient World and is worth a visit for its antiquities. Delos is connected to Mykonos by boat.
